SAFETY AND CARE
I try to design sculptures that could be run
continuously, but I don't suggest leaving them running unattended, or
running them for extended periods of time. First and foremost, they
are potentially attractive to children. There is always a danger of
pinch points or tipping if they are mistreated. And there is a matter
of their uniqueness...I can't always predict or prevent a problem that
might develop. Only time will tell. For the most part, I would treat
them like you would a blender in your kitchen... use it as long as you
need, and then shut it off before you leave the area. That will also
reduce wear and tear.
Most of my work is electrical- and unless otherwise
specified, it is not meant to get wet. Don't let that happen or it could
be ruined and/or shock you.
I try to make sculptures that are safe
and durable. HOWEVER...they are one of a kind works of art. It's impossible
to know how long they will "live". In most cases, key components
are built to be replaceable, and in general, I try to build them with
the thought in the back of my mind that I may have to make repairs.
You can email me if there's a problem. A problem hasn't been brought
to my attention yet, but I'd be glad to try to help. To prevent the
most likely problem a machine might have (Squeaks)... you can apply
oil and/or paste wax to eliminate friction.
If I am asked to make a repair, I will be happy
to try. You may have to pay for shipping if you are not local- and I
can't guarantee a return to original condition. There may also be a
materials charge, however, I don't plan to charge for labor (unless
an unusual situation arises)... as it is in my best interest to keep
my work in good condition, and my customers happy.
